Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi believes “it’s about time” the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) gets introduced into the Premier Soccer League.

The Soweto giants came from two goals down to secure a thrilling 2-2 draw against newly promoted side Magesi FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The draw sees Magesi drop to 11th place on the log with six points after six games, while Amakhosi dropped down to eighth place with seven points from five matches.

Nabi has since hit back at the officiating during the stalemate after missing a few calls in the match.

“This team scored [four goals] against the opponent in the cup. Obviously we’re very disappointed but we have to talk about how the officials are officiating the game and we believe that it’s about time the VAR comes into this beautiful league of PSL,” Nabi told SuperSport after the game.

“Because we strongly believe there was a penalty on [Wanadile] Duba, everyone is going to see the images and as well the second goal they scored is a free-kick for us but it became a free-kick for them which gave them the second goal.

“We don’t want to put pressure on anybody, we know that the referees are human beings and they can make mistakes too but we urge the officials of the league to bring VAR to help the referees because every time we feel that we’ve been punished every game.

“It’s not time to panic, we know what we need to do because our issues are kind of obvious. Every game we have the most possession and we need just to convert that possession into scoring goals.

“We believe that in the future with that kind of possession [we will score], we appreciate that we’re improving but we’re disappointed that today we have lost two points.”
