Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is confident his side can qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and USA.
South Africa have already qualified for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations following their 3-0 victory over South Sudan at the DHL Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The national team finish top of the Group K qualifier standings with 14 points after six matches, having won four and drawn two.
Broos has now shifted his focus on securing a place at the FIFA World Cup in 2026 following their success in the AFCON.
“If you look at 2024, it’s a fantastic year. We started with the bronze medal at Afcon, we played fantastic games in Algeria, against Zimbabwe, against Congo. I wanted us to finish in beauty, to do a good game, with a nice win,” Broos said.
“I think now we can we have a good team, in four months we will have important games but I think we’re confident, there’s a big chance we can qualify [For the World Cup].”
