Orlando Pirates opened their CAF Champions League group stage campaign with a 2-1 victory over CR Belouizdad at the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 in Algiers.
Pirates got off to the perfect start when Mohau Nkota broke the deadlock in the fifth minute before the 20-year-old doubled his side’s lead with a screamer in the 27th minute.
Former Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo managed to reduce the deficit in the 66th minute but it proved to be a consolation goal as Pirates held on for the win.
The Buccaneers are now placed second in the Group C with three points from one games, while CR Belouizdad are placed third with zero points after one match.
