Stellenbosch FC have suffered a major blow after striker Lehlohonolo Mojela has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 28-year-old joined Stellies from TS Galaxy and was seen as a direct replacement for Iqraam Rayners, who signed for Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mojela hit the ground running at the Cape Winelands side and managed to score six goals in nine appearances across all competitions
However, Mojela sustained an injury during training and it has since been revealed that the striker will be sidelined for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
“Stellenbosch FC can confirm that striker Lehlogonolo Mojela has successfully undergone surgery to address a reoccurrence of a pre-existing knee injury,” Stellies said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, the recovery process will rule Mojela out for the majority of the remainder of the season while the club’s medical and performance teams provide him with the necessary support to ensure he returns stronger.
“Mojela joined Stellenbosch FC from TS Galaxy at the start of the current campaign and scored six goals in his first nine appearances in Maroon prior to him being sidelined.
“Everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch in due course.”
