Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has been given a two-match ban for violent conduct in his team’s 2-1 LaLiga win at Valencia on Friday, but has been cleared to play in the Spanish Super Cup against Mallorca in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Vinicius was sent off after striking Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski in the second half at the Mestalla Stadium when his team were trailing 1-0.

After an appeal by the club, the RFEF suspended the striker for two league games, but cleared him for the high-profile Super Cup game against Mallorca in Jeddah, where he will be one of the main drawcard attractions.

The Spanish Super Cup has a different look to it with four teams taking part, rather than just the traditional domestic league and cup winners. Instead it features the trophy holders and the runners-up of each competition.

That means LaLiga champions Real take on Copa del Rey beaten finalists Mallorca in the first semifinal clash, and before that Barcelona meet cup winners Athletic Bilbao in the other semi.

The final will be played in Jeddah on Sunday.
