Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker believes his side lacked a bit of quality in their game following their defeat to Kaizer Chiefs.
The Maroons suffered their fourth defeat in the Betway Premiership following their 1-0 loss to Amsakhosi at Athlone Stadium on Friday evening.
Despite the defeat, Stellies have moved up to eighth place on the log with 20 from 14 matches after they won and drew five games apiece while conceding four defeats.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi remain in fourth place in the standings with 25 from 17 matches, having won seven games, drawn four and conceded six defeats.
“Ja, obviously not at our best today, you don’t play to your potential then you don’t win football matches, so ja disappointed,” Barker told SuperSport TV after the game.
“It’s also unfortunate a lot of players not available, injured but we need to be better if we want to win games, really disappointing. I think the effort was there but we just lacked sort of a little bit of quality in our play.”
“It was difficult for the game to flow as well, every 50/50 it seems to go their (Chiefs) way, so it just didn’t give us rhythm.”
