Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated that Kylian Mbappe has the potential to reach the same heights that Cristiano Ronaldo did at Real Madrid following his hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.
The French international netted a hat-trick in their 3-1 win over Man City at the Santiago Bernabeu to send his team into the quarter-finals.
The 26-year-old has now scored seven goals and grabbed one assist in 10 appearances and is currently in joint third place on the goal scoring charts on the same amount of goals as Harry Kane, Vinicius Junior and Vangelis Pavlidis.
Ancelotti has insisted that Mbappe can reach the same level as Ronaldo, who scored 451 goals in 438 matches for Los Blancos.
“He has the quality to reach his numbers, but he has to work, because Cristiano set the bar very high, but he is so excited to play here, he can reach Cristiano’s level,” Ancelotti said at the post-match press conference.
“Everyone was waiting for this hat trick from him and it has finally arrived. But Mbappé is not the only one, we have many players who make a difference.
“And they make a difference with their collective work above their individual quality which is remarkable.”
