Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is confident his side will finish higher up the Betway Premiership standings despite their current run of form.

The Soweto giants suffered a 1-0 defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns in a league match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys drop down to eighth place on the table with 25 points from 19 matches.

Sundowns, meanwhile, extended their lead at the top of the log and currently sit on 54 points after 20 matches played so far this season.

However, Nabi believes that where they currently sit on the log does not truly reflect how they have been performing on the pitch.

“It’s true that every time we lost it doesn’t matter the performance we had when you lose a game,” Nabi told SABC Sport after the game.

“But what we need to take from this game it’s the performance of the team.

“The tactical understanding of the team and improvement of players during the season. We know that the standings where we are on the log doesn’t reflect the performance we have been having.

“But the standings is a temporary thing that’s why where we are going to finish the season higher up.

“We are working hard and we know that the team is progressing and sometime going through good moments, bad moments but we know that the process of building, everything and we need to know the results are there to take us higher up the table.”
