Dunga pays the price for poor Copa

Following their group stage exit at Copa America, Brazil have confirmed that Dunga has been relieved of his duties.

Brazil only managed to beat Haiti at the Copa America Centenario and were bundled out of the tournament in controversial circumstances after a handball goal in their loss to Peru. The manner of Brazil’s exit matter little for the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

‘The Brazilian Football Confederation informs that it has decided this Tuesday to dissolve the coaching staff of the Brazilian national football team. Coordinator Gilmar Rinaldi, coach Dunga and all their will leave their positions,’ read a CBF statement.

‘The decision was made in mutual agreement in this afternoon’s meeting and the CBF will now start its selection process for a new Brazil coaching staff.

‘The CBF thanks the dedication, professionalism and commitment of the team in its work.’

Corinthians coach Tite is being linked as Dunga’s replacement for the top job in Brazil.
