Euro 2016 action continues on Sunday with the likes of France and Germany taking centre stage as they chase spots in the last eight. 

Tournament hosts France will face the Republic of Ireland in their round of 16 clash in the early kick-off. The sides have met on 15 occasions in their history, with France coming out on top in six of those clashes, including the infamous handball saga that saw France qualify for the 2010 World Cup in Ireland’s stead.

France will be at full strength for the clash, while Ireland will be without striker Jonathan Walters, who has been missing since picking up an injury against Sweden in the side’s opening game.

France finished top of Group A having won twice and drawn once, while Ireland sneaked through into the round of 16 with a last ditch win against Sweden, which earned them qualification as a best third-placed team.

The game will be played at the Parc Olympic Lyonnais, Lyon.

The match gets underway at 15:00.

The second fixture of the day sees Germany take on Slovakia. The sides have faced-off 10 times in their history with the Germans running out the victors on seven of those occasions, with Slovakia winning the remaining three.

Germany will be boosted by the return of central defender Mats Hummels, but fellow centre back Jerome Boateng remains a doubt following a knock against Poland. Slovakia, meanwhile are likely to be without defensive duo Tomas Hubocan and Dusan Svento, while attacking midfielder Robert Mak will face a late fitness test.

Germany finished top of Group C as they went unbeaten in their first three fixtures, while Slovakia edged through as one of the best third-placed teams following a victory over Russia in the their final Group B fixture.

The game is set to take place at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Lille.

The action gets underway from 18:00.

The final fixture of the day sees Hungary take on Belgium. The Hungarians do not boast an enviable record against their opponents, with Belgium having run out the winners eight times in the sides’ 12 meetings.

Hungary will have Attila Fiola out injured for the tie, while Daniel Bode is an additional doubt. Belgium, for their part, may have to make do without the services of both Yannick Carrasco and Mouse Dembele, who have slight injuries.

Belgium finished as the runners-up in Group E despite ending level on points with Italy, who beat them 2-0 in the sides’ opening game of the tournament. Hungary, meanwhile, can take confidence from having finished top of Group F.

The game will take place at the Stadium Municipal, Toulouse.
