Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy expresses his delight with Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s decision to join Amakhosi.
The Glamour Boys announced the capture of former Sundowns captain alongside seven other new players to arrive at the club.
McCarthy, who also played for both teams, has revealed that the full-back asked him about the move prior to the completion of his transfer, reports SoccerLaduma.
‘I respect Rama so much,’ McCarthy said.
‘He phoned me before joining Chiefs and I told him that it was good for him as a player.’
The former Bafana Bafana defender believes that Mphahlele made the right choice in joining Chiefs and also went on to praise Sibusiso Khumalo, another new Amakhosi signing.
‘He has made a good choice and a good move,’ the former Bafana Bafana added.
‘You know I played with him and Sibusiso Khumalo at Moroka Swallows and I know they are both disciplined and hard workers and they will both make at Chiefs. Chiefs have a good catch.’
Mphahlele captained the Brazilians to the Telkom Knockout and Absa Premiership title, scoring two goals from 27 appearances in all competitions last season.
