Lebogang Phiri’s Danish club Brondby have rejected an offer from Austrian side Rapid Vienna for the South African midfielder.
Phiri has become a key member of the Brondby squad following his move to the club in the 2013-14 season. Still just 21-years-of-age, the youngster has made 79 league appearances for the side.
Austrian giants Rapid have now expressed interest in the start, but the side’s opening bid for the player has reportedly been turned down by Brondby, who are reluctant to lose the player, reports SoccerLaduma.
Brondby, who are chasing Uefa Europa League football, will reportedly only listen to offers in excess of €1-million for the U23 international.
While it remains to be seen whether Rapid return with an improved offer for the Phiri, the player is set to miss out his side’s Europe League clash next week following an issue with his visa.
Brondby will face Scottish side Hibernian in a two-legged tie in the coming weeks in the third round of Europa league qualifying.
The first leg of the tie is set for Thursday, July 14.
The match will be played at Easter Road.
Kick-off is at 20:45.
