Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep hold of midfielder Joe Allen after the Welsh midfielder’s starring role at Euro 2016.
The 26-year-old midfielder has just a year left to run on his contract at the Anfield club and is set to begin discussions over the prospect of a new deal.
Such was the level of his play during the continental showpiece in June and July, the former Swansea star was named in the official team of the tournament for Euro 2016.
However it is at club level where Allen has struggled to make an impact late as he has failed to impress Klopp. Allen made just eight starts last season, before becoming a central figure in Chris Coleman’s Wales outfit.
‘We will find a solution but it’s not done,’ Klopp told BBC Radio 5 live.
‘Obviously Joe Allen is a good player. We never doubted this. He played a good European Championships, like the whole Welsh team.’
Allen signed for the Reds for £15-million back in 2012 while Sevilla have reportedly expressed interest in the player.
‘We have to make decisions, we have to find solutions,’ Klopp continued.
‘We have to talk to the player, ask the player and think about our situation. That’s how it works.’
