South Africa U23 have been dealt a major blow after goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune limped off in a friendly match against Bidvest Wits on Monday.
The national U23 side faced Bidvest Wits in a preparatory friendly on Monday which ended 1-1 ahead of the Rio Olympic Games in August.
The Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper came on as a half-time substitute for Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Jody February while Owen Da Gama’s men were trailing 1-0.
However, the Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper limped off the pitch less than 10 minutes later, with what seemed to be an injured left ankle, and was replaced by reserve keeper Nkosingiphile Gumede, according to KickOff.com.
The has yet to determined how long the 29-year-old will be out for following the ankle injury.
The Glamour Boys recently included Khune in their Carling Black Label Champion Cup squad that will take on Orlando Pirates on July 30.
