Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale believes Mamelodi Sundowns must be applauded for their fine performances, but must keep them up.
Sundowns impressed as they defeated Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek 2-1 in the Caf Champions League on Sunday and with just two games left to play, Downs are comfortably on course to progress to the semi-finals.
‘They [Sundowns] need to be lauded and what a brave performance they displayed, big ups to them and well done,’ Motale told Goal.
‘That was a great result and more specially winning away against a team like Zamalek,’ he added.
The former defender believes Downs must maintain their form.
‘But they must not sleep on their laurels, because it is great in such competitions when you start winning away, it is a sign of good things.
‘They have done that and they must just continue with it because on home soil, they will always have the advantage. It is their home ground. I was really excited for them for last night.’
The Brazilians’ remaining games see them face a home tie against Zamalek as well as an away trip to Nigeria to face Enyimba.
‘I think the trip to Nigeria is going to mentally challenging because they play with you psychologically and as well as physically on the field.
‘So that is why I say they must not relax now and rest on their laurels, the big tests are still coming,’ Motale concluded.
