Morena extends Bloem Celtic stay

Bloemfontein Celtic managing director Rali Ramabodu revealed that Thapelo Morena has committed his future to the club after signing a new three-year contract.

The 22-year-old has attracted interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, but Ramabodu says the player’s services are still needed at Phunya Sele Sele, according to KickOff.com.

‘I would like to confirm that Thapelo Morena has got the three-year contract with the club so at this stage he is staying,’ Ramabodu said.

‘Yes, it is a fact that three teams have approached Celtic but at this stage we are keeping him. We want to have a strong team this season and we want to win something.’

Ramabodu insists that Moerna’s contract was extended to fend off an interest for the winger.

Ramabodu added: ‘What we have done and the reason why I’m saying we have given him a three-year contract is because we have bettered his contract. Because we saw that there was a lot of interest and we wanted to keep him and he is happy,’ Ramabodu added.

‘We improved his salary and that is why I’m saying we have a new three-year contract deal with him and it is expiring in 2019. He has already signed it.’

Morena is currently with the South Africa U23 squad, who are currently preparing for the Rio Olympic Games next month.
