Former Bafana Bafana star Steven Pienaar has taken to training with Premier League outfit Sunderland, according to a report.
Pienaar, who is a free agent after being released by Everton at the end of last season, has attracted interest from a number of clubs both in South Africa and abroad, with the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates both having expressed interest locally.
Now, however, it appears the midfielder could reunite with his former manager at the Toffees, David Moyes. The Scot has signed the ex-Bafana captain twice in the past and may well turn to his reliable former star as he looks to strengthen the Black Cats.
Pienaar suffered a bout of injuries that kept him out of action for long spells last season, but at 34, the midfielder is determined not to hang up his boots.
Pienaar made just six appearances for Everton last term.
