Orlando Pirates have invited goalkeeper Felipe Ovono to resume training with the first-team squad following his failure to secure a move away from the club.
Ovono was among the handful of players new Bucs coach Muhsin Ertugral had sent to train with the side’s academy given they did not form part of his plans for the 2016-17 season.
However, after a proposed move to a Saudi Arabian club did not materialise, Ovono has now returned to training with the senior team ahead of the side’s clash against Platinum Stars in the Maize Cup this weekend.
‘Ovono is back at training. He was with the rest of the players this morning and is expected to be part of the team to play in Rustenburg this weekend,’ a source told KickOff.
Ovono faces stiff competition for a place in the Buccaneers’ starting lineup as the Orlando Giants already have the likes of Brighton Mhlongo, Jackson Mabonkgwane and Siyabonga Mpontshane on their books.
The Maize Cup is set to be played at the Moruleng Stadium.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
