Orlando Pirates striker Ayanda Nkosi says he is ready to fight for a place in the Buccaneers starting line up ahead of the 2016-17 season.

The 23-year-old completed his transfer to the Mayfair from Free State Stars after impressing last season for Ea Lla Koto, scoring three goals and assisting a further one from 15 appearances in all competitions.

Nkosi will now contend with the like of Thamsanqa Gabuza, Tendai Ndoro and Thabiso Kutumela for a place in the Pirates team.

‘Competition is part of football. In football there is always competition whether you like it or not,’ Nkosi told KickOff.com.

‘There is always somebody you compete with for a position and all I can do is to work hard to stake my claim in the team.’

The former Maritzburg United striker insists he is adapting well to his new surroundings and will be looking forward to combining as a team before the start of the 2016-17 season.

‘I am settling well, everyone has been welcoming,’ he said.

‘I just hope as we move towards the start of the season we gel more as a team.’

The former Stars player feature for Pirates during their participation in the Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup beating Platinum Stars on penalties on Saturday.
