New Bidvest Wits signing Cuthbert Malajila is confident his side can down big boys Kaizer Chiefs when the sides clash in their opening Premiership fixture.
The Zimbabwean joined the Premiership runners-up from champions Mamelodi Sundowns as a makeweight in the deal that took Sibusiso Vilakazi to Chloorkop.
Now, the player has set his sights on a positive showing in the side’s opening fixture against the Glamour Boys.
‘As a team we are ready for the first match and excited to be playing at home – so far so good. We can’t wait for the games to come,’ Malajila told his club’s website.
‘I have played alongside some of the players before and I know (Elias) Pelembe, (Jabulani) Shongwe and (Buhle) Mkhwanazi. I am trying to get to know each and every single player by interacting with them on a daily basis.’
The Clever Boys recently returned from a week-long training excursion in Stellenbosch. There, the side trained hard in a bid to prepare for the upcoming season.
The match against Kaizer Chiefs will be played at the Bidvest Stadium on August 23.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
