Sunderland have completed the signing of South African midfielder Steven Pienaar on a one-year deal until the end of the season.
The South African was a free agent after leaving Everton at the end of last season, having made almost 200 appearances for the Toffees over two spells.
Pienaar will now be reuniting with former manager David Moyes and will now him at the Stadium of light for the 2016-17 season, reports the Sunderland website.
Pienaar began his career playing for Ajax Cape Town, he then went on to join mother club Ajax Amsterdam, where he won six domestic trophies, including two Eredivisie titles.
From there he went on to join Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund before moving to the Premier League to join the Blues and including a spell at Tottenham Hotspur before returning to Goodison Park.
Over the course of his career, Pienaar has scored 45 times and assisted a further 73 from 411 appearances in all competitions from Ajax Cape Town, Ajax Cape Town, Borussia Dortmund, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspurs.
