Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane was satisfied by the performance of his heavily rotated squad despite a draw against Maritzburg United.

The coach made nine changes to his side for their opening Premiership fixture of the season as he has kept an eye on the side’s upcoming matches in the MTN8 and the Caf Champions League.

Despite dropping two points, Sundowns dominated the match and came close to scoring on numerous occasions.

‘I think Maritzburg played well and the only time they could trouble us was on the break just to wait and then go out on the counter,’ he told SuperSport.

‘I’m happy that we came here to play and I’m happy for the team that played, that shows that guys are fighting for their positions to play.’

The coach explained his changes had been motivated by a desire to balance the load of the squad and expressed that his team had been unlucky not to have scored at least once.

‘It’s all in the game, let’s enjoy the game,’ Mosimane added. ‘A luta continua, vitoria e certa’ [The struggle continues, victory is certain],’ he concluded.

Sundowns are next in action when they face Zesco United in the Caf Champions League on Saturday.

Kick-off at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium is at 15:30.
