Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has advised the fans not to demand too much too soon of the club’s new forward Yannick Zakri.

Mosimane believes it could take the striker some time to settle into his new environment at the club and has cited Leonardo Castro’s arrival last season as a potentially similar case. Castro got off to a slow start at the club but began to make his mark once he had build up an understanding with his teammates.

Zakri, meanwhile, has featured twice for the side thus far as they recorded back-to-back draws in the MTN8 and their opening Premiership fixture against Maritzburg United.

‘It’s an integration and it takes time. You know Castro played eight games [last season] without scoring a goal for Sundowns,’ Mosimane told KickOff.

‘People started to get impatient. Sbusiso Vilakazi is lucky because he scored against Supersport United [in the MTN8 quarter-final] and he made the chances and he created the chances. Even against Chippa United [in the MTN8 semi-final first-leg] he created chances.’

Mosimane remains convinced Zakri will prove his worth in time, revealing the player will continue to lead the line while Castro is sidelined by injury.

The 25-year-old Zakri will get another chance to impress when Sundowns face Chippa United in the second-leg of their MTN8 semi-final clash on Wednesday.
