Free State Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena explains why coach Denis Lavagne was recently sacked by the club after just three games this season.
Free State Stars recently confirms the termination of the head coach Denis Lavigne’s employment contract with immediate effect based on the fact that the employment relationship has broken down.
Mokoena revealed that Lavagne was released as head coach of Ea Lla Koto to avoid the risk of disaster to the club after suffering defeats against both Golden Arrows and Chippa United and a goalless draw against Bloemfontein Celtic.
‘ln concluding the employment contract with Free state stars Football club the Head coach had agreed that the special nature of professional football and the need for excellent relationships to avoid the very real risk of disaster to the entire club, team, and all its stakeholders is such that if the employment relationship between the parties breaks down for any reason,’ Mokoena said.
‘But particularly if the Head coach does not perform to the standards desired by the club, termination will be appropriate.’
Stars general manager continued to say that Stars will now in search of a coach who can meet the clubs requirements for the season.
‘It has been a tough decision that the club has had to make knowing how early in the season it is and the track record of the Head coach,’ he added.
‘However, due to the recent loss to Golden Arrows and the mood within the first team, the club has elected to avoid the risk and look to include a head coach who will assist in building the moral of the footballers which we believe will result invaluable.’
