Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira has explained the reason behind striker James Keene’s was not part of the squad for this season.

On Thursday the Premier Soccer League released their official list of club registrations, with Keene not part of Gavin Hunt’s 32-man squad for the season.

Ferreira revealed that the 30-year-old striker was left out of the squad for the season because of his knee injury.

‘James is not registered with us for the new season as a result of his injury,’ Ferreira told KickOff.com.

However, Hunt previously stated that the English striker will only return to the squad in January next year alongside Phakamani Mahlambi.
