Alexis Sanchez instrumental in helping Arsenal secure their first victory over Chelsea in five years after cruising to a 3-0 victory over the Blues at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The hosts took the lead in the 11th minutes when Sanchez capitalised on an error from Chelsea defender Gary Cahill before Theo Walcott doubled the Gunners lead from a Hector Bellerin cross.
Arsenal had not beaten Chelsea in the Premier League since 2011, however, Mesut Ozil volleyed in a third on the stroke of half-time to extend his side’s lead to 3-0.
The Chilean international played an important role for the Gunners by producing a total of four shots at goal, one on target, with three coming from inside the penalty and one from outside the box.
According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Alexis Sanchez managed to complete 55 touches on the ball after spending 79 minutes on the field.
In attack, Sanchez created to chance for his side after opening the scoring in the 11th minute before assisting Ozil’s goal in the 40th minute.
The 27-year-old completed 26 out of 32 passes on the ball with 34.4% going forward, while 31.3% all coming from the back.
In defence, the striker won five out of 13 duels and went on to win three fouls for his side while intercepting two balls and winning 100% (one of one) of his tackles at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea controlled the match and had the best possession (50.2%), while Arsenal could only manage 49.8% of the possession.
Meanwhile, The Gunners had more shots on goal than the Blues, producing 14 chances at goal compared to nine efforts respectively.
