Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny says he is looking forward to facing his former club when the Gunners take on Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Egypt midfielder spent three seasons at the Swiss club scoring 10 goals from 144 appearances in all competitions.
The 24-year-old admits that Basel played a major role in helping him develop into the player he is today before joining Arsenal during the 2015-16 season.
‘I didn’t have a lot of experience before I moved to Basel,’ Elneny told the Arsenal website.
‘I learned a lot and gained plenty of experience playing for them in both the Champions League and Europa League.
‘I was there for three years and also learned how to be more punctual both on and off the pitch, and not to fear any opponent we face. I liked the club and enjoyed my time there.’
Since joining Arsenal, Elneny has netted seven times and assisted a further three from 49 appearances in all competitions for the London side.
The match at Emirates Stadium kicks off at 20:45.
