A late Daniele De Rossi penalty helped Italy earn a 1-1 draw with Spain in their World Cup Group G qualifier in Turin on Thursday.

Julen Lopetegui’s side went ahead in the 55th minute of the match after a terrible mistake by veteran Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon presented a goal and Vitolo made no mistake to slot the ball into an empty net.

However, the Azzurri levelled matters in the 82nd minute after Sergio Ramos brought down substitute Ciro Immobile in the area, with De Rossi making no mistake from the spot.
