Platinum Stars captain Vuyo Mere says his ambitions for the club is to lead Dikwena to Telkom Knockout glory this season.

Dikwena were drawn away to Absa Premiership newcomers Baroka in the Telkom Knockout quarter-final draw on Thursday.

The 32-year-old defender says the club’s objective is to win the knockout tournament to inspire the youngsters at the club and to give them a taste of glory.

‘It’s our objective as Dikwena to win every trophy that is on offer. This one too is no exception. We are going to do our best to go further and finish as high as possible in the competition, Mere told the Platinum Stars website.

‘Our aim is to win it as we have tasted glory before. We have won it before and we want to give the youngsters, who haven’t won anything, a chance to win this and make them feel that it’s important to win trophies. It puts pressure on us as senior players to let the younger ones to also taste the glory.’

The dates and venues for the Telkom Knockout are yet to be confirmed, however, Platinum Stars will face Bloemfontein Celtic in the Absa Premiership clash at home on October 15.

The match at Royal Bafokeng Stadium kicks off at 15:30.
