Manchester United believe Paul Pogba could hold the key to beating Chelsea and Arsenal to capturing the services of French striker Antoine Griezmann.
United manager Jose Mourinho has made the French striker his number one target during the January transfer window i the hope of reestablishing United’s glory days.
However, the Gunners and Blues are also keen on signing Griezmann, with Antonio Conte’s side willing to meet his £89.3million release clause.
Should Atletico Madrid accept Chelsea’s offer, it would make the 25-year-old striker the most expensive player ever ahead of Pogba.
The french international has revealed that the France national team’s run in the Euro 2016 had strengthened the bond between himself and Pogba.
‘We get on very well. It is true that the Euros has brought us closer together still,’ Griezmann said about Pogba.
‘Paul is a really nice guy. He is it! We send messages, Snapchats. He’s really a good friend. When he plays with his club, I try to look at it to see if he had a good game or not.’
Griezmann scored six times to win the Golden Boot at the Euros and is averaging a goal a game in the league for Atleti this season.
