Arsenal were in for a tough battle as they faced Swansea City at the Emirates on Saturday, eventually taking the points with a 3-2 win.

The Gunners got off to a fast start in the contest as Alex Iwobi had a shot blocked after four minutes before Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott linked up to cause problems.

Swansea had their first effort from a Gylfi Sigurdsson free kick after nine minutes before Jack Cork fired over the bar five minutes later.

Arsenal broke the deadlock after 26 minutes as he pinched the ball off a defender in the box to stick it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Alexis Sanchez then came close for the Gunners before Walcott added his and his side’s second after 33 minutes following a corner.

Swansea were handed a lifeline in the tie as a Granit Xhaka error was punished by Sigurdsson, who duly curled home a shot to pull a goal back for the Swans. Sigurdsson almost netted again just on the stroke of half time but could not direct his effort as the score remained 2-1 at the break.

Arsenal started the second half strongly as Ozil and Sanchez caused problems before Iwobi dribbled past a whole host of players but was unable to pick out a teammate with his cross. The Gunners had their third on the 57 minute mark, however, as Ozil volley home in style after a quick free kick.

Swansea fought back yet again in the 66 minute as Borja Baston netted from close range to make the score 3-2. Xhaka then capped a poor individual display as he saw red on the 70 minute mark, reducing the Gunners to 10 men.

Modou Barrow missed a glorious chance to equal the scores as he headed straight at Petr Cech before the wing created a chance for Sigurdsson a few minutes later. Walcott then almost made the game safe for the Gunners as he hit the post late on, denying him the chance of a hat-trick.

In the end, the Gunners held on to record 3-2 a win, their six successive victory.
