Polokwane City chairman Johnny Mogaladi believes that Mamelodi Sundowns deserved to be crowned Caf Champions League champions following their performance in the tournament.
Sundowns were beaten 1-0 by Zamalek in the final second-leg clash but they managed to secure the trophy with a 3-1 aggregate score to clinch their first continental title.
The Rise and Shine chairman has heaped praise on the Brazilians performance this season and he believes Pitso Mosimane side are deserving winnings of the crown.
‘Congratulations to the champs Mamelodi Sundowns, they deserved to win the Caf Champions cup. They’ve been the dominant side throughout the season and they’ve been highly efficient,’ Mogaladi told the Polokwane City website.
Mogaladi says that Sundowns chairman Patrice Motsepe and head coach Pitso Mosimane should be applauded for their sterling leadership following their exploits in the African tournament.
‘I can imagine that it must be a special feeling to be counted amongst the top teams in Africa,’ he added.
Polokwane City will now take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout Cup at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Thursday.
Kick-off has been set for 18:00.
