Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera says he is well aware of the threat West Ham United pose after being drawn against them in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
Juan Mata’s 54th-minute goal was enough to seal a 1-0 victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old says he is aware of the quality of the Hammers having already played against Slaven Bilic’s side four times last season.
‘We faced West Ham four times last season – they are not in as good a moment as then but they have the players and the quality, and sooner or later the quality is going to come out. We have to control the very good players they have,’ Herrera told the Manchester United website.
This will be the third time in the League Cup that United and the Hammers do battle with the first clash back in 1985, when the Reds beat the Londoners 1-0 at Old Trafford before they suffered a 4-0 defeat at the Boleyn Ground in 2010.
The tie will take place on Tuesday 29 or Wednesday 30 November.
