Kaizer Chiefs veteran Siphiwe Tshabalala has cautioned his side against Orlando Pirates’ attacking talents as the sides gear up for the Soweto Derby.
The midfielder could be poised to make his 28th appearance in the iconic fixture this weekend, as he has recently returned to fitness following a lengthy injury layoff.
‘It’s huge when we face each other,’ Tshabalala told his club’s website.
‘There is a great history behind the teams and the tradition, the rivalry, the success of both teams and the huge followings that each team has – that makes this a game big in all aspects.’
The midfielder said the colossal nature of the fixture demands the very best from his side.
‘It’s the kind of game where players with big-match temperament succeed. Against Pirates we always have to bring our A game. I enjoy playing against them and look forward to Saturday’s game.’
‘They are good ball players,’ he added. ‘They have been impressive offensively. We also have been in a good way recently and while we are wary of them, we will continue doing what has worked for us and we will look to build on what we have achieved so far.’
The Soweto Derby will take place at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The action gets underway at 15:30.
