Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has urged his side to remain focused on their upcoming Premier League match against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side are high in confidence heading into their match against Boro on Saturday following their 3-1 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old has urged his side to forget the midweek victory over Barca and focus on remaining at the top of the Premier League table.
‘Obviously everyone will talk about it because it was Barcelona, but if you lose at the weekend it doesn’t matter what happened in the Champions League,’ De Bruyne told the Manchester City website.
‘We have to do the same as we did in these two games and try to win against Middlesbrough to go into the international break with a good series and try to maintain top spot in the league.’
The Belgium international believes his side are in for a tough Premier League match against Middlesbrough when the two sides meet at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
‘It is very difficult. Everybody will give everything they have got against us. We have to do what we know how to do. The game against Middlesbrough is going to be another tough test,’ he added.
Kick-off has been set for 17:00.
