South African midfielder Thulani Serero has been linked with a move to Championship side Reading, according to reports in the Netherlands.

Serero has been out of favour at Ajax Amsterdam and is expected to play no part in their current campaign after being dropped to their reserves and having his shirt number given to another player.

Former Dutch international, Jaap Stam, has reportedly made contact with Ajax with a view to signing the Bafana Bafana international on a free transfer, reports De Telegraaf.

Serero’s contract expires at the end of June 2017.
