SoccerClub editor Wade Pretorius challenges South African international hockey player Justin Reid-Ross to test his Premier League knowledge.
UPDATE: One can only describe our guest’s performance in week 12 as ‘less than ideal’ after Justin Reid-Ross correctly predicted just two of the 10 matches correctly, both without a correct score. And while our resident pundit and two-time Premier League Superbru global champion also failed to predict any correct scores, he managed to pick the bonus points for six correct picks after West Brom thrashed Burnley on Monday night. Our pro managed to correctly tip Liverpool’s draw and a derby win for Spurs which sent him to 9 points overall and another win over the pro.
Another week, another Manchester United fan as 2012 Olympic hockey team member Justin Reid-Ross steps up to the task.
The Amsterdam-based hockey star, who made his national debut in 2006, is known for his drag flicks on the field but is a passionate football fan off of it.
‘I am and always will be a United supporter,’ Reid-Ross tells SoccerClub.
‘Through thick and (more recently) thin I remain loyal to the team. I can remember the likes of Keane, May, Pallister, Irwin, Robson and Hughes in the first team I supported. It was hard not to fall in love with the attacking flair and the defensive discipline of that group.
‘The passion evolved with the Giggs, Scholes and Becks era and now I’m waiting patiently for the new boys to build their legacy.’
Will new era begin on Saturday against long-time rivals Arsenal? Reid-Ross is optimistic it will.
‘I’ve gone for a 2-1 United win, of course. I support the Red Devils and I think it’s about time they rewarded the fans with some quality football and a little more “want” on the pitch. What better game to show that than against the Gunners?!’
