Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has labelled striker Olivier Giroud as ‘angry in a positive way’ as he looks to earn back his place in the Gunners first-team.
The 30-year-old striker came to the Gunners rescue against Manchester United after scoring an 89th-minute goal to salvage a 1-1 with Jose Mourinho’s side at Old Trafford.
The 67-year-old managers says Giroud has recently started showing the hunger and determination to trying and work his way back into the starting lineup.
‘He’s angry in a positive way,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.
‘I’d say he’s more determined [than angry]. I have a lot of respect, not only for his quality as a footballer but also for the man. The best answer he can give is always to show what he did today.’
Wenger says having a wealth of talent on the bench makes his side dangerous until the final whistle has been blown.
‘Maybe a few years ago but I think we have the quality and the spirit on the bench. The two together makes us remarkably dangerous until the last minute,’ he added.
‘Since the start of the season, look at the number of goals we’ve scored in the final five minutes. That is not a coincidence.’
Arsenal will now turn their attention to the Champions League when they welcome PSG to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 21:45.
