Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele says it was an emotional moment for him to score against the side he captained the previous season.
The Glamour Boys fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Brazilians at Lucas Moripe Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The 26-year-old admits that he became emotional after scoring against his former side.
‘It was an emotional moment to score against the team I used to captain,’ Mphahlele told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
‘I couldn’t even celebrate, because any form of celebration would have been subjected to interpretation either way – especially by the Sundowns supporters as if I would be mocking them.’
Kaizer Chief will welcome SuperSport United to the FNB Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 19:30.
