Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho is confident that coach Steve Komphela will field a team which will allow them to push for victory against SuperSport United on Wednesday.

Matsatsantsa arrive in splendid form, unbeaten in 10 matches, as Chiefs’ former coach Stuart Baxter attempts to heap further misery on Amakhosi, with no wins in their last two outings, on his return to the FNB Stadium to face his former employers.

Komphela’s tactics were widely criticised after his side were dominated by Sundowns last weekend, but Mathoho has faith in his coach’s plans.

‘Wednesday’s game against SuperSport will be very important for us to win as we didn’t do well in our previous two games,’ said Mathoho, according to KickOff.

‘We need to work extra hard in order to win this game. The way we played (against Sundowns) is not the way we are used to and I am sure we will bounce back.

‘There is obviously nothing wrong with the system because the coach has his own plans. I can’t say the formation is right or wrong because the coach is the one who knows why we are playing this way.’

The match kicks off at 19:30.
