A brace by Sergio Aguero was enough for Manchester City to secure a 2-1 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Burnley got off to the best start possible and broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when a clearance by defender Nicolas Otamendi fell to Dean Marney, who volleyed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
However, City hit back in the 37th minute when Sergio Aguero tapped the ball in from close range after Nolito’s effort was deflected into the path of the striker to level matters.
The home side were dealt a major blow when Dean Marney and Johann Gudmundsson picked up injuries just before half-time.
Pepe Guardiola’s side then took the lead on the hour mark when Fernandinho set up Aguero, who tapped the ball into an empty net to give his side the lead for the first time.
However, Burney came close to levelling matters in the 73rd minute but Michael Keane’s headed effort was cleared off the line by Aleksander Kolarov.
Guardiola’s side managed to hold on to their 2-1 lead until the final whistle to bag all three points.
