A late Islam Slimani penalty earned a 2-2 draw for champions Leicester City against Middlesbrough at the King Power Stadium.

Alvaro Negredo swept in Gaston Ramirez’s smart square ball from the edge of the box after 13 minutes, before Shinji Okazaki struck the bar for the hosts with an acrobatic effort.

Calum Chambers conceded a penalty and Riyad Mahrez fired in the equaliser from the spot, but with just 20 minutes left, Boro striker Negredo finished Adam Forshaw’s ball over the top with a crisp volley from an acute angle.

In the final minute of stoppage time, substitute Slimani converted a penalty following a foul on Wes Morgan to share the points.
