Highlands Park coach Gordon Igesund believes defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns will comfortably defend their Absa Premiership title this season.
The Lions of the North fell to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Brazilians in the Absa Premiership at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.
The former Bafana Bafana coach believes Pitso Mosimane’s side have all the quality to clinch the Absa Premiership title for the second season running.
‘You know you are playing against a quality side, probably the best team by a long way in this premier league,’ Igesund said after the match.
‘I think this team will go on and win the championship quite easily. They just got too much quality and we have to acknowledge that. We have to be honest.
‘What, you think we were gonna match them today? We weren’t gonna do that. We had to try and keep it 0-0, grind out a result from a free kick or a corner or something. But it wasn’t to be. When they scored a second or third goal we were going to be under it from the beginning.’
Highlands Park welcome Bloemfontein Celtic to the Makhulong Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
