Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes his side are playing Ajax Cape Town at the wrong time on Wednesday.
The Brazilians recently extended their winning streak in the Absa Premiership to four matches, following their 5-0 victory over Highlands Park on Sunday.
The 52-year-old can afford to rest some of his key players, but insists it won’t be easy to beat the in-form Urban Warriors.
‘It was important for us to save the legs and save energy for Wednesday’s game against Ajax; it is going to be a difficult one and that is why we were sitting on the ball a bit against Highlands,’ Mosimane said.
According to the former Bafana Bafana coach his side are facing Ajax at the wrong time, just after securing their first win of the season.
‘Cape Town is forever difficult, last season we drew there – in fact, we should have lost that match, I had to do damage control.
‘We are playing Ajax at the wrong time now; they just turned the corner – they just won in Rustenburg and they are motivated and they are always up to it for us. We don’t easily win there.’
The match at Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
