Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says Eric Bailly showed real character to play through his injury during their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old had to be substituted in the second half of their match against Palace, with the severity of his injury still to be determined.
The Portuguese manager went on to heap praise on Bailly’s willingness to stay on the field even after playing through his injury before being substituted in the 52nd minute.
‘We don’t know [yet]. It is not the same knee, it is the other one. It is the left knee. So he is not coming back to a previous injury,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website.
‘Of course, he has a problem with another dimension but he showed amazing character to try and try, and try until his limit.
‘He had an injury in the right knee and he recovered fantastically well. Now it is the left knee. I don’t know really what he has, but let us see and wait. He could resist for so long. I would say for about 75 minutes he could resist. He is a special guy and his pain level is really high.’
Manchester United will be hoping to continue their winning ways when they take on West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
The match at the Hawthorns kicks off at 19:30.
