Bidvest Wits secured a 3-1 victory over Free State Stars at the Bidvest Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday evening.
The match got off on a positive in the opening exchanges of the match with both sides posing a threat in the final third.
However, Wits broke the deadlock in the 13th minute when Gabadinho Mhango put the ball into the back of the net from Sifiso Myeni cross.
The home side nearly doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Ngele played Mhango through on goal before he lobbed onto the roof of the net.
The Clever Boys were awarded a penalty in the 34th minute when Mahlambi was brought down in the box. The winger stepped up and converted the spot-kicked make it 2-0.
However, Ea Lla Koto managed pull a goal back just before the halftime break when Sekotlong found the back of the net.
The Clever Boys restored their two-goal advantage after the hour-mark when Mahlambi fired his side further ahead.
However, Stars were dealt a blow in the 75th minute when Angelo Kerspuy was sent off for recovering a second bookable offence.
Stars were awarded a penalty in the closing stages following a foul from Hlanti. Sekola stepped up and saw his spot-kick saved by Darren Keet, who saved the rebound effort as well.
The score remained 3-1 to Wits at the full-time whistle, as move up to second spot in the Absa Premiership standings.
