Leicester City were named Team of the Year at the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards after winning the Premier League title in 2015-16.
Under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri the Foxes shocked the world when they claimed their first ever Premier League title in the club’s history during the 2015-16 season.
Throughout the season the Foxes showed a real fighting spirit after conceding just three defeats from their 38 Premier League fixtures before being crowned champions in May.
Leicester captain Wes Morgan, who spoke on behalf of the team, said that it was an honour and a great achievement for his side to win this incredible award after edging Manchester City Women, England’s rugby union team, Team GB, Mercedes F1 and Andy King’s Wales national team to win the award.
‘It’s a huge honour to receive this award. What we achieved was absolutely incredible,’ Morgan said.
‘No one thought we could achieve it. It was something that people thought was impossible but we proved it was possible.
‘I want to thank everyone behind the scenes at Leicester. They contribute so much to what we strive for and work towards. A big thank you to our fans too for their loyal support.’
Leicester City will now welcome Everton to the King Power Stadium when the two side’s meet in the Premier League on December 26.
Kick-off has been set for 17:00.
