Olivier Giroud scored at the death to ensure Arsenal a place in the FA Cup’s fourth round after a come from behind win at Preston on Saturday.
Callum Robinson gave the hosts the perfect start in the seventh minute and a huge upset seemed on the cards as Preston went into the break one goal to the good. It could’ve been much worse for the travelling fans but the home side spurned three excellent chances to double their advantage as Arsenal struggled to gain a foothold in the encounter.
The Gunners had never lost a third round tie in the FA Cup under Arsene Wenger and made sure that proud sequence continued as Aaron Ramsey equalised shortly into the second half.
Both side’s had a goal correctly disallowed before Giroud finished smartly from a Lucas Perez backheel to book Arsenal’s place in the next round.
