Baroka CEO Morgan Mammila has explained the reason behind his decision to appoint Jacob Sakala as the club’s new head coach, who replaces Kgoloko Thobejane.
Mammila has confirmed that Sakala has been appointed as the club’s new head coach while Thobejane has now been made the assistant coach of the club.
‘Yes, it’s true, he [Sakala] will take over from today,’ Mammila told KickOff.com.
‘A wise man always changes his mind. Thobejane will now be our assistant. This is his brother’s team, obviously, he is happy with the new arrangements because he wants the club to succeed.’
The club’s CEO explains that his reason for appointing Sakala is to help guide his side to a top eight finish in the Absa Premiership and also to qualify for the Caf Champions league
‘Pitso and Hunt are obviously not available. Those are the two coaches we would have like to bring on board because we also want to play Champions League football,’ He added.
‘We want top eight, I can say safety and top eight is the mandate.’
Baroka currently sit at the foot of the Absa Premiership with 12 points from 15 matches as they look to turn around their season when they face Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on February 8.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
