Brazilian legend Rivaldo believes former Palmeiras star Gabriel Jesus ‘will make history in English football’ after finally arriving at Manchester City.
Gabriel’s arrival in the English top flight was delayed by City granted his Brazilian club’s wishes that he completes the season in his native country.
Now, he arrives in England as a Brazilian Serie A winner and a regular starter for Brazil’s senior side.
‘He is a player of the future, isn’t he?’ Rivaldo told Sky Sports. ‘He is a young player, he’s only 19, and he has been playing football in England, which is hard football. It is not easy.
‘They need to be patient. He needs time to adapt to the cold. But he’s a player who I believe will make history in English football because he’s a great player.
‘It’s just that, I think everyone needs to be a bit patient only because of his age. But from what I saw of him in Brazil, he’s a great player.’
The 19-year-old forward could make his debut against Spurs on Saturday should the FA grant him his clearance after he missed City’s disastrous 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park last weekend.
